NEW MUGA SURFACING FROM PLAYTOP^®

A new versatile multi-sport surface for outdoor multi-use games areas (MUGAs) has just been launched by Playtop Limited.

Multitop^® is ideal for school or community facilities where different sports may want to be played. It provides a surface for high-quality play combined with comfort, good grip, minimum risk of injuries and fast drainage after rain. Since it requires very little maintenance and is resistant to vandalism, Multitop^® is ideal for unsupervised facilities.

Multi-sport areas provide valuable recreation facilities for inner city districts and small rural communities as well as schools, colleges, hotels and company sports grounds. They can make effective use of areas too small for a full-size pitch, or provide an overflow playing area at existing leisure centres.

Multitop^® is a porous polymeric surface with a non-slip textured coating. Unlike alternative products on the market, which use a layer of black rubber with a painted top surface, Multitop^® is a single rubber coarse. This ensures that it retains its colour throughout its life. In addition the Multitop^® non-slip coating can be reapplied to the surface a number of times over its life – at relatively low cost – keeping the surface in prime playing condition.

This new surface can be applied directly onto most existing macadam games areas or Playtop Limited can undertake a complete ‘design and build’ if required.

The surface is available in three standard colours – dark green, terracotta red and blue. Long-lasting play lines for different sports are then painted onto Multitop^® in a variety of distinctive colours. Fencing, lighting, kerbs, gates and playing equipment are also available.

This latest addition to the Playtop^® portfolio of products follows hot on the heels of the company’s announcement of a partnership with Nike, in which it will incorporate Nike Grind rubber into its Playtop^® range of impact-absorbing play surfacing. Both moves are a reflection of Playtop’s further expansion within the play surfacing market.
